Step by Step they're BACK! New Kids On The Block performed on the Today Show this morning for the first time singing a medley of old tunes and their new single "Summertime". You think they still got it??? They looked kinda cute to me... but their voices sounded a bit rough... but regardless brought back floods of memories. If they release their over-sized-jumbo buttons again, I will be all over that crap. Just watch me.

Its beginning to look alot like... SATC Movie time

Miss Fergie has recorded the theme song for The Sex and The City Movie called "Labels or Love". You likey? I likey. But lets be honest... I love Fergie. I love SATC. I love designer labels (which are name-dropped in this song like rain during a hurricane baby)... wasn't a tough one to call. Talk about an amazing combination of fabulousity. But seriously its funky and quite Fergalicious. Love it. You can listen to it for yourself below. Enjoy!

Where trouble melts like lemon drops
I must confess I am not a fan of American Idol like the rest of this nation. Just never have been (Dancing With The Stars is another story!). I don't watch it at all. However, I do love Aggies (whoop!) and love love love me some dreads, so naturally I have kept tags on our lil Jason Castro... and evenmoreso I loooooove the rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" he did this week, which was originally performed by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole (50 First Dates, anyone? Awesome movie). So in case you missed Jason performing it on Tuesday night's show.. check it out. I mean he's playing a yukalaylee for goodness sakes. Amazing. I hope he wins. But honestly I don't know about any of the other contestants so I'm completely biased and uninformed. At least I admit it.

New Kids Men On The Block
Whip out those old over-sized buttons ladies! We got some hollatchyogirl hotties on our hands (okay so Danny ended up looking like a pedophile though, poor thing). New Kids On The Block have released their first group publicity photo in 15 years. Fifteen! Yowza that makes me feel old. They are no longer "kids" obviously - the youngest, Joey, is 35 years old - and after months of speculation (this scooped by yours truly, like, eons ago) they are now officially announcing their reunion tour this Friday, April 4th, on The Today Show. I would set the DVRs, kids, just in case. I have heard it rumored they might perform on the show as well, but its only a rumor. Can you imagine?!

All about Four

Check out this website: www.Tick-Tock.tv What is it tick-tocking down to, you ask? Rumor is that Madonna's video for her new single 4 Minutes (featuring Justin Timberlake - listen to it here) will premiere online on 04/04 at 4:44pm ET. Wow. Way to make yourself a bigger deal then you really are, guys. Its not like you're two of the biggest pop stars in the world or something. Ohhhhh... you are... but still. I think its retarded and over-the-top-ish. Do you?

So I am wrong once a year... or so.
Crap. A. Duck. I am posting this with an "I admit I was wrong" purpose. I am only admitting I as wrong publicly because I have repeatedly argued with both Jill and my sister, Rachel, along with many other people I am sure, that there is no way that Sirius and XM Satellite radio stations will ever merge. Ever. This has been rumored for years now, but I have always said that the government would never let them have a monopoly like this with all of the Justice Depar
tment's strict anti-trust laws, since there would be no other satellite radio providers on the market, blah blah blah. Seriously there would be only one sole satellite radio provider in the U.S. Hello! I think I used to literally laughed in their faces numerous times because I believed it to be ludicrous.
Mouth, meet foot. Please insert.
Today, the Justice Department officially approved the merger of Sirius and XM radio, even saying, verbatim, "the deal was unlikely to hurt competition or consumers." (Hogwash!) The buyout still has to be approved by the FCC, yada yada yada, but point is - its going to happen eventually. So before I get a lot of "I told you so"s... I'll go ahead and say "You told me so". Dang it! I thought I was so right on this one! Actually it will probably be a good thing -even for me- because one of the reasons I have never gotten satellite radio is because I could never decide between the two providers. Buuuuuuut I would have rather stayed indecisive listening to AM/FM poo then be wrong. :)

Closed off from love, I didn't need the pain
I am completely obsessed with a song. I really am. I can't stop playing it over and over. I just can't. "Bleeding Love" by Leona Lewis. I remember Perez talking about this UK import a while ago, and remembering thinking right off the bat that she was too poppy (even for me!). But her new single has officially debuted in the U.S. recently - I am pretty sure its on iTunes now - and I can not get enough of it. Yes it is poppy... but for some reason my ears believe its so good I don't care. Seriously give it a listen. Don't pre-judge. Listen to the whole thing. :)

Just one of those days...
This is officially my 500th post. Seriously what in the world do I talk about???
Last night I accidentally drove my car into a ditch. I was at a friends house for a BBQ and I needed to leave but couldn't get out of their front yard/driveway area because all of the cars blocking my way... and I was too annoyed/impatient to go inside and ask people to move them. So genius here (that'd be me) saw a road off in the distance and thought my little Toyota Matrix could make the trek across the field no problem-o. Well it seems Betty Boop does have too much booty on 'er because my caboose got caught in a ditch right before the road (which was not forseen)... and ripped part of my bumper off. Drama! Thankfully it didn't tear all the way off and it stayed hanging on for dear life until I got it to the car doctor this morning. Betty Boop's choo-choo needed a few stitches but she's recovering quite nicely.
I went to an awesome concert this weekend - The Hotel Cafe Tour with Joshua Radin, Cary Brothers, Ingrid Michaelson, Greg Laswell and Sara Barei
lles. Amazing. It was such an interesting setup of "sensitive singer/songwriters" as they referred to themselves and someone would sing three songs then someone else would come on and sing three and so on and rotate in and out. Very cool. I finally finally finally got to see my Joshua live and it was all that I could have hoped for and more. He was oh so good and sings a tad different live (with a little more soul?) which actually brings another aspect to his music and I fell even more head over heels in love. He was just so manly but sensitive - I was totally swooning. Seemingly single, Joshua was talking about the kind of girl he always falls for, describing her as the depressed girl sitting in the corner reading EM Cumming's poetry, crying with mascara running down her cheeks. Shooooooot... I wanted to shout out "I wear mascara Joshua!!!" because thats all I got going for me because you know you ain't gonna catch homegirl reading poetry. Sigh. Oh well.
Anywho, Cary Brothers (looks just like Graham Colton) rocked live - loved his Peter Gabriel cover of "In Your Eyes" and, of course, "Blue Eyes" which Joshua and Ingrid joined in on. Classic. The biggest surprise for me was how much I loved Ingrid Michaelson - she was uber cute-quirky-entertaining-talented. Just adorable. I liked her album okay (you all know her "The Way I Am" song) but after seeing her perfom live it put her music in a whole new light. Her acoustic version of Radiohead's "Creep" was like icing on the cake. She was fantastic.
Downside of the whole concert - Sara Bareilles. Sigh. What was she doing there? Since her whole "Love Song" song is a pop-hit now, half of the concert goers were screaming 15 year olds (you would have thought it was Hannah Montana) who no doubt got free tickets off the radio, and the other half were lesbians. I kid you not. Lesbians mugging down everywhere. It was so awkward and uncomfortable and too much for little Ruth's eyes. I was not prepared for it. I did not sign up for Lilith Fair, people. So supposedly along with 15 year olds, lesbians love this Sara girl... greeeeeeat. It made it even better when Sara would be singing and you could hear girl voices screaming "show us your boobs!". Aaaaah! Yeah I know. "Interesting" experience to say the least. I might look into the demographic audience of a certain artist before I go to a concert again. But I think my next concert will be Radiohead in May and there's no way to pin-point their demographic.
How much did everyone love The Bachelor last night? I reaaaaaally like him actually. He's so funny and cute - has a personality for once - so the accent and height are just the cherry on top. Tear me off a piece of that! But... that Sarah girl... frickin amazing. She was unreal. I wish he would have kept her around just to see what else she would say. When she tried to give him her panties... I was like oh no she di'int... Classy. Yo momma musta raised you rite. However, I really liked Robyn. I think she's my fav.
By the by, there are certain times in my life when I am quite proud to be a Texan. We are just so classy. After reading this story, today is one of those days.

Freckles
Now now now I have another slight disappointment to share. It comes in the form of a song. Madonna's first single off her new "much anticipated" (?) album was leaked on the internet today. Hmmmm... it just so happens to be her infamous duet with none other than Mr. Justin Timberlake, and was produced by -who else- Timbaland. That said, you would think it would be really awesome right? Um... kinda wrong. I am not that impressed. Its okay just don't like it all that much. Maybe its one of those that will grow on me? But what can I say... I am not a music aficionado by any means.... so you can listen to "4 Minutes" below and check it out for yourself :

Happy Hump(dy Dance) Day
I do love X-Men movies. I have this odd sci fi nerd vein running through me that I usually try to deny. But I don't particularly like Wolverine (albeit lovin' me some Hugh Jackman). Soho when I heard the first X-Men spinoff was going to be X-Men Origins : Wolverine I thought.... bleh whatever. That is until, my fine friends, I heard of the casting news : not only have Definitely uber-hot Ryan Reynolds and Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am signed on, but even more exciting is that Taylor Kitsch of Friday Night Lights (Riggins baby!) has just signed on to play Gambit. Cheese and rice I'm back in the game and lovin' this movie!!! It opens May 2009 (one week before J.J. Abram's Star Trek opens for all you extreme sci fi-ers waiting to get your fill).
All these movies coming out that I want to see - I am loving it! This weekend Charlie Bartlett and Vantage Point are released, both of which I am planning to see and next Friday (Feb 29), dun dun dunnnnn... The Other Boleyn Girl comes out. Although not a psychotic Natalie Portman fan like most of mankind, this movie looks A-mazing.
I got a phone call from Texans for Hillary Clinton last night. Seriously it was a thrill. I was "personally" invited to come hear - gasp - Bill Clinton speak in Galveston. I would rather sit through suicide-inducing P.S. I Love You again than hear that man speak. Can I even call him that? Hear that person speak. Anywho I was also reminded to vote for Hillary in the upcoming election on March 4th. OMG. What election? What exactly are we voting for? OMG I am so lost. Is it a vote to see if we like Miley Cyrus or Hannah Montana more? Because that might be more relevant at this point.
I am addicted. To what now you might ask? The song "Church" by T-Pain. The clean version o-course. I can not stop playing it over and over on my iPod in my car. I absolutely can not get enough as I try to booty-scoot around with my gimp back as I drive. Now it will make you want to dance... and is making me even more of a hazard on the road I am sure. If you need a good dance mix - go d/l it fo sho.
I remembered why I graduated from college in the first place and vowed never to return : studying. What am I thinking? Although I do now know the formula to find the volume of a cylinder, its no fun and draining on my mind. Especially when I have to also plan and teach two different lessons to teach my youth group this week. Argh. If only they would accept my GMAT score from 2002. That would make my day year. But supposedly they only accept scores if they are five years old or less and mine is six. Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh. You can only imagine the "delight" this brings me. And when I say delight, I mean I want to punch your mom in the face! :) Okay not really your mom. Just mine.

Beautiful Disaster?
"...She never stays the same for long, assuming that she'll get it wrong.
Perfect only in her imperfection.
She's not a drama queen, She doesn't want to feel this way....
She would change everything for happy ever after.
Caught in the in between of beautiful disaster,
But she just needs someone to take her home.
Cuz she's just the way she is, but no ones told her that's ok...
And she would change everything, everything just ask her.
Caught in the in between of beautiful disaster."

Joshua Radin is music to my ears. Literally.
One of my favorite artists, Joshua Radin, released a new EP today, Unclear Sky, with four new singles and I want you to go check 'em out on iTunes. Now! He seriously rocks the (mellow) cashbah. I especially love "Sky", his new duet with Ingrid Michaelson (whom I also adore - her album Boys and Girls is wonderful). Joshua is coming to Houston on March 15th to the Red Room and I am so stoked to see him live finally - especially since Ingrid is opening! I missed him last year. I have already shanghaied my friend Ryan into going (you better not bail, ry ry!) but if anyone else wants to go as well please let me know. It'll be a great show.
Hey at least I'm not a total loser to mention that Mariah Carey also released her new single today. Ooops. I think I just did. I was so close to being cool. So close. But yet so far...

She's just being Miley
If you were to lo
ok into the crystal ball that is my near future... there is a slight chance that you might be seeing me attending a screening of Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour this week at the theaters. And by slight chance I mean I have to. Its sucking me in like a laser beam - I can't control myself. I have been brainwashed. I have to see what all the fuss is about. I could lie about it but I know I would confess sooner or later. I am going to say its for my youth ministry. Yeah thats it. So I can relate even better to my kids! But, as I jam to "See You Again" over and over in my car, I realize now THIS girl is after world domination. She might just get it. HannahMileyRayCyrusMontana's "lil" flickity wickity grossed $43K this weekend -per theater- which is an all-time box office record for any movie (by comparison the former record holder was the Spiderman 3 opening weekend with $35K per theater) and about $30 million in total (on only 683 screens)! Daaaaaaang. Homegirl's gotta a posse. And I wanna be part of it. Even if I am the only member over 13 years old. Hollatchyo girl!

Apple bottom jeans, boots with the fur
OMG I love boots with fur. But thats not the point. My favorite song of the past few months, which I admit with absolutley no shame, has been Flo Rida's "Low". Flow-Reeda. I started jamming to it at the beginning of December and I can't lie to you - I still can't get enough of it. Hee hee. Love it. Needless to say, basically I just want to shake my booty to it. But what happens when you take that song, and then your hands-down favorite drummer ever jams to it? Fabulousity. So below is Travis Barker (formerly of Box Car Racer and Blink 182) and his own remix of "Low".

Burn Us Up
Honestly, it seems like everything is hard and tough in my life right now. No matter how I seem, it really is. But... I know God is still good and I will continue to praise Him and be thankful. Maybe not thankful for a new life, new back, new man, new job, new anything significant yet... BUT... today I am going to be thankful for:
Bagel sandwiches : Going off my diet (what-ever) never felt so good. My love for the bagel sandwich knows no bounds. I could live off of them - and I actually did in college. I swear I kept The Bagel Station on Texas Ave in College Station open. I can almost prove that since it has since closed (sad... literally and figuratively). But today I divulged in a little Tasty Turkey action at Einsteins' Bagels and it was just a little bit of heaven.
Football : Can't watch enough. How will I live without you come February? Eeeeeeek! But - what an awesome afternoon of football (although I will always prefer college to pro). My Green Bay Packers trumped Oakland to clinch the NFC North title. The revival Brett Favre has created this season is miraculous - please keep it up for the playoffs! On top of that, the Texans beat the recently hot Tampa Bay (who knew we could score in the third quarter?)... and Tony Romo won. I really can't believe the Dallas Cowboys pulled off that win over Detroit. And even though I always hope they lose (sorry Jenn), I am happy for Tony. If only to see him bouncing around like a silly girl after his last touchdown pass with his dimples beaming ear to ear... it might have been worth a Cowboys win. heehee I'm such a chick. Oh and... Tebow anyone? Yeah talk about "duh". So scary he's just a sophomore!
Star Wars : Yeah so in between football games I was watching the Star Wars marathon on HBO. I got a little Return of the Jedi action. Laugh all you want (just not out loud. stop) I love these movies so. Obviously the original trilogy moreso than the recent ones... I really could watch them all day long. Nerd puns can commence now.
Shane & Shane : I went and saw Shane & Shane along with Bethany Dillon tonight (with my friend Susan and co... also known as waSue) as they led worship at the night service at Houston's First Baptist Church. There are no words to describe the worship experience these two create. I had forgotten how spectacular it was since I hadn't really worshipped with them live since Breakaway at Texas A&M, it just takes your breath away. The passion for the Lord that you see and hear in their voices is nothing short of life altering. They simply lead you to join in their desire to praise and worship Him. Ah. Its hard to put into words. Their rendition of "Before the Throne".... Gasp. They also wrote a new song about Meshach, Shadrack and Abednego (Daniel 3) of all things and I found it amazing - "Burn Us Up". I hadn't gotten their new CD yet, Pages, but I will now for sure. Excellent and inspiring praise and worship music is absolutely priceless.
Mandie : One of my Young Life girls. Simply for reminding me tonight why I do what I do.

What day is it again?
I hope everyone had a lovely Labor Day Weekend. Mine was uneventful at best... gotta love a rainy holiday weekend... but the football more than made up for it.
ha wait for it. I went to a Mandy Moore concert. Huge surprise, probably not. No I did not go to hear her music, I just wanted to see her because I love her! Plus I had free tickets (no i would not have paid to go). She actually has a surprisingly great voice (I was impressed) but she was as adorable as I expected her to be. Plus all tiny. Which means since in Hollywood she is considered somewhat "curvy" it shows you how freakin small all those girls really are. But even better, Rachel Yamagata opened for Mandy, and she's amazing so I was pleasantly surprised to get to hear her perform.I can not believe Jenn's wedding is THIS weekend! So exciting!!!

"A woman found out if she shook it, she could shake up a man"
Confession: I am absolutely obsessed with the song "You Can't Stop the Beat" off of the Hairspray soundtrack. Aaaah love it. I put it on my workout mix and listen to it over and over when I am working out. I think I like it so much because it makes me wanna dance (shocker I know). I saw the movie a few weeks ago... it was okay. I loved some of the singing and dancing scenes, because they literally make you want to stand up and dance (yes I refrained myself in the public theater), but I am not a John Travolta fan. He almost ruined the whole thing for me - he was retarded and was awful casting for the role. It makes me hate him even more that I know he demanded to play this role and got the guy who actually played it on Broadway kicked out of the film. I guess you can do that if you own two Boeing jets. But, even if you dont see the movie, download "You Cant Stop the Beat." It'll make you wanna dance. Promise.
In other music news, Graham Colton Band has now become... Graham Colton.
The band we used to stalk (since I am trying to look cool, check out Jenn and I with Graham circa Super Bowl 2004), had some shake ups the past few years (Turtle made that band, man) and now it seems Colton is coming out with a solo project. Because he obviously thinks he's too cool for his band. His new single, "Best Days", has been released (you can check it out here). Its commce commca (that means kinda good, kinda not in French, geniuses). We'll see if he can really write an entire good album without Turtle. Also, just so you know, you can blame Graham Colton for Kelly Clarkson's crappy new album of angst. They dated a year or so ago when Graham opened for one of her tours... and supposedly he cheated on her. Yep. Result: another KC album of angst. Its been said her album is such a huge bomb she's already back in the studio trying to pop one out by the beginning of 2008. I believe in you KC!
One last tidbit of information, if you have never seen Justin Timberlake in concert (probably evenmoreso if you have)... then you will not want to miss THIS.
