SATC. I am holding it in... for now

Of course I have already seen the Sex and The City Movie. Hello its me. I so so so so badly want to blog about it and what my take is on all of it but aaaaaaaaaaah I won't yet because I know there are some of you who havent seen it yet and I am such an awesome friend I don't want to spoil the plot. You need to experience it. So go see it soon because I want to share my thoughts. Basically there are parts that I really liked and parts that I really really didn't. Overall. Oh thats a hard one... B-. Maybe C+. Fashion eye candy gets an A+. Duh.

A few thoughts... Jennifer Hudson = completely retarded character. A waste of plot space if you ask me. Plus acting-wise she was not believable. She might have peaked at Dreamgirls. Cling onto your Oscar and get back to singin' girlfriend. My heart literally stopped beating when they showed Carrie shooting her VOGUE bridal couture spread (its at the beginning of the movie don't worry) - I gasped out loud - the gowns literally gave me chills they were so gorgeous. What in the world do us normal girls have to look forward to? Love handles and crow's feet. Lovely. Tell me how thats fair. Supposedly they flew in 80 different bridal gowns from off the runways around the world to determine which ones Sarah Jessica Parker would wear in the movie. If that doesn't make you want to be a movie star I don't know what will.

Although by the time this movie actually came out I was so over it (they took over-exposure in their promoting to a disgusting new level) I still overall enjoyed it and am glad I saw it. By the end of the movie I was sure they couldn't make a sequel to it (since I had heard rumors about it) but supposedly since it did so well this weekend at the box office... especially for a rated R chick flick for goodness sakes... they are talking about it. Hmmm I don't think its likely. Maybe if they brought in new characters but that would ruin it anyway so lets hope not. It did make me quite nostaligic remembering the good ole days of college sitting with my roomies Jenn and Erika watching Season 2 over and over on DVD and falling in love with this show. Ahhhh...

Other movie reviews/go see/no see:
IronMan - Yes. Really liked it. Go Jon Favreau. That is the way you set up for a sequel people.
Indiana Jones - No. Just didn't feel right. Too over-the-top even for Indy. Nah.
What Happens in Vegas - Yes. Besides Cameron Diaz's scary-man-like muscles, its real funny.

No its not a holiday celebrating mayonnaise

Happy Cinco De Mayo to everyone! What is Cinco De Mayo celebrate anyway? Shoot I dunno. Look it up if its really bothering you and you have to know. If nothing else its an excuse to drink margaritas on a Monday, right? Do it.

I had a lovely Cinco De Mayo Eve (yesterday, geniuses). Yes it was also my bday. Instead of actually teaching my youth in Sunday School, I brought a cookie cake in honor of me, so I filled them with sugar and had a ping pong tournament at 9:30 in the morning (I am clearly an awesome youth leader), then I got jam packed full of Pappadeaux with the fam (more food, obviously) and my Jenn sent me my current Holy Grail makeup item that I couldn't find here in Houston : Bare Necessity Dazzleglass. Good call girlie. But... dun dun dun... after months of griping and yearning.... I finally got my iPhone. Laaaaaaah (cue light shining from heaven). I was so surprised, shocked and elated. I love it. I still can't believe my parents splurged like that. They must love me or something. And I basically played with it the rest of the day until I grabbed dinner with a couple friends. Dude all you do is eat on your birthday. But anyway if you called or tried to message me yesterday and couldn't get through, it was because I am too much of an technological idiot to actually figure out how to work a contraption like an iPhone. I probably should have thought of that earlier, huh? Well then again maybe when you get to be 28 23 years old, your mind starts to go. Bad timing on my part -if there is ever going to be a time you get phone texts and messages, its on yo birthday. But I almost got it down. Now all it needs is a puuurty pink cover and I'm set. :)

So it seems everyone and their dog went to see Iron Man this weekend. Sheesh. Although I want to see this movie, when I had the chance I went and saw Made of Honor. Chick flicks always win me over what can I say. Did I love it? Of course! Michelle Monaghan was uber adorable in it and she and McDreamy actually were really great together - although there were some mad cheese parts in the film. You just have to look past those. Although I doubt I can find a guy in America who hasn't seen Iron Man yet to go with me, I do hope to go see it soon. I am a sucker for comic book blockbusters. Although I am not looking forward to another remake of The Hulk (Edward Norton. Really?), I am thinking this one is going to take the freaking cake (although am a bit worried about how disturbing the whole Heath Legder/Joker situation is going to be. I am a girl okay. We have hearts.). The second trailer for The Dark Knight was released yesterday so you can check it out if that suits your fancy. It just looks awesome. However if I am totally honest with you, the nerd in me is going to seep out as I admit that I am probably most looking forward to seeing animated-but-still-Star-Wars-and-even-George-Lucas-is-backing-it-so-I-can-not-help-myself Star Wars: The Clone Wars in theaters August 15th. There is no need to comment on this. I know.

Men in Trees is officially cancelled. Boo.

Romantic comedy EXPLOSION

Although we have been seriously lacking in romantic comedies as of late, even I, a true fan and connoisseur of them, is shocked by the somewhat explosion of them that are arriving in theaters in the next month. Its like a chick flick bonanza! I love it. But sadly that also means that some of them will do well, some will flop... because most people (not including yours truly) will not see them all. So starting next Friday, a new one is being released every week for next four weeks (Please contain your excitement. No seriously. Sit down. Contain it.):

April 18th - Forgetting Sarah Marshall
This film I forsee as being highly successful - Judd Apatow (pronounced like "pow" not "toe" by the way) is like comedic gold these days and I personally can not wait to see this movie. Although I am not fond of Apatow's normal raunchy-crass-factor, I can not pass up the amazingly stellar Kristen Bell (I'm obsessed), Jason Segel and the hilarious Russell Brand (he's like a crackhead on crack. So funny!). Jason Segel, who I love from How I Met Your Mother, wrote and stars in this film and I think it looks so funny and sweet... even if only to revive Mila Kunis' career... where has she been since That 70's Show? I guess stowed away with longtime boyfriend Macaulay Caulkin. Oh and that Family Guy thing. [trailer]

April 25th - Baby Mama
Okay I am not sure how romantical this one is, but it is definitely a comedy. Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are two of my fav female comedians (okay is it comediennes? Nevertheless I believe that Kristen Wiig has stolen my top spot in this category) and this movie does look really funny and I laugh out loud when I watch the preview. Although I am a tad afraid of it being one of those movies where all of the funny scenes are shown in the previews so when you get to actually watch the movie they are no longer funny... but I am hoping this is not the case. Tina does not mess around. Plus... you know just the fact that its called Baby Mama makes me wanna check it out. I'm so white chocolate. [trailer]

May 2nd - Made of Honor
I should have posted about this movie months ago and if so it would have gone something like this : "OMG I can not wait for this film! Its like My Best Friend's Wedding... but in reverse... with McDreamy! It just does not get better than that." But now - overexposure is an understatement. If I see one more commercial or advertisement for this film I might boycott it altogether. Its getting just downright annoying. And its release is still almost four weeks away! I wanna be like - Hello! Suckers like me are your target audience. We get it already. Romantic comedy, hot guy, kiss kiss, unrealistic happy ending. Duh. We're going to see it, aight? As annoyed as I am getting, I still want to see it and will - and Michelle Monaghan is uber adorable you will love her if you haven't seen her already in MI:3 or Heartbreak Kid. If nothing else, true McDreamy fans will enjoy seeing him not having to console Meredith. Seriously. [trailer]

May 9th - What Happens in Vegas
Or also known as How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days 2. Same premise pretty much right? But hey if they can squeeze a few more bucks out of us why not? And oh they will. For the record, I am not a Cameron Diaz fan, but I want to see it anyway. Maybe I am liking her more since she broke up with my JT? Hmmm... but the preview actually makes the movie look adorable and it reminds me of the Ashton Kutcher in Just Married (which I love!!!) not the cougar-lovin-step-father-kaballah-practicing-serious Ashton that we have "seen" as of late. So I do actually want to see this... plus for some reason Cameron Diaz always seems to have the most amazing wardrobes in her movies and I always enjoy the fashion they use on her. Oh wait. I forgot. Its because she's a stick insect. Whatever. [trailer]

And for those of you who enjoy romantic comedies but do not actually go to see movies in theaters (Who are you?! You must be daft. Totally missing out. Just kidding I realize people might think its a waste of money, I am just not one of them!) here are some that are coming out soon on DVD : Juno (April 15), 27 Dresses (April 29), and Bella (May 6).

Worst movie title ever

Bangkok Dangerous. Were the movie "title creators" out sick with the flu or something so the producer let his nine year-old son name this film? Worst movie title in the history of the world. Then add Nicholas Cage (annoyingly National Treasure revived his career)... then add age-old plot of hitman got a conscience... then add Nicholas Cage with dyed long hair (eeeew)... and you have Bangkok Disaster Dangerous. Its almost so awful you have to watch... like a dead body on the side of the road. You just have to look. Even if you don't wanna.

Cant always be bloggerific

Sorry kids. I know I haven't been extremely bloggerific lately. Sometimes I have oodles to gab about and other times... blank. Nada. So I feel like I should say something...? This is what I got.

First of all, God is continuing to show me fruit and blessing in both my youth group and my Young Life girls Bible study which is so exciting and humbling. Being in youth ministry can be hard on every level and its been a pretty rough last year or so in all of my youth ministry avenues. But to see Him working and working through me, along with the vision He has given me (which He continually changes), is making it all worthwhile. I am just exhausted all the time. :)

The movie, Stop-Loss, was deeeeepressing and the gorgeous eye candy known as Ryan Phillipe and Channing Tatum was not even enough to trump the somber-debbie-downer-ness of the movie. Don't recommend it. I should have just seen 21 again.

Oh and my eyelashes. Sigh. They are still falling out really bad and even a trip to the dermatologist did not help. Although he did was agree (thanks) and say we should test my thyroid. Well I already had my thyroid tested a few weeks ago and its fine, I said. That didn't matter - that's all he had for me. So I am going to have to take matters into my own hands. I have tried quality eyelash conditioners before with no real results... so I finally had to go for the Godfather - Revitalash. A doctor created it for his wife who had cancer and whose eyelashes were not growing back after chemotherapy (I thought that was sweet. Awww) and even though its pricey pricey, its supposed to do wonders for making your eyelashes grow. I found the cheapest one available online and am hoping and praying that in two months or so, my eyelashes will be back. I am sure if stress in my life would vanish that would help as well. But until then I am going to extreme measures... even stopping curling my eyelashes almost at all (which I love and rely on). So currently, I am sticking to using shu uemura Mascara Basic mascara because it curls your eyelashes and keeps that curl better than any mascara I have ever used... and no matter how many applications you put on, it barely ever clumps. So if you want to reduce have to constantly recurl and recurl your eyelashes, I would look into investing in this mascara.

I very excitingly just bought LORAC's Sparkle Pencil eyeliner (black eyeliner with silver sparkle - hello!) and I can't wait fo a dancing night out to use it. Don't worry even I don't wear glitter sparkle every day. I also nabbed Benefit's new Erase Paste that I have heard raved about and so far really like it. Its like a concealer with a highlighting twist. If you're looking for a new kind of concealer you might want to check this out. I bought the "medium" shade.

Celeb goss round-up : Beyonce and Jay-Z are getting married today... does that make her Beyonce-Z? I was tres disappointed in NKOTB's big announcement this morning - so anti-climatic. Blech. Did John Mayer and Perez Hilton really make out??? Hmmm. I guess? Nasteeee. And one more reason I do not want to vote for John McCain : Heidi Montag is. Seriously who cares? Why has every single celeb goss site covered this? I don't get it. And worst and probably most upsetting, our hot Bachelor Andy Baldwin is dating Marla Maples, Donald Trump's ex (check out pics here). Eeeeew. She's like eleven years older than him. What a cougar! Seriously Andy, give me a holla.

Just for kicks and giggles... I found this "prototype" over at Makeup and Beauty Blog and it just brought warmth to my heart. Three of my favorite things in an all-in-one combo? Definitely too good to be true. MAC Cosmetics, Sex and The City, and iPod. A MAC-Pod? Magnificentness.

Have a great weekend!

Give me a pound, lock it down

The trailer for Mike Myers' new film, The Love Guru, has been released in case you haven't seen it. It is somewhat highly anticipated... if only because its like Mike Myers' fell off the face of the earth - where has he been anyway? Thinking up this piece of brilliance obviously. Okay so it looks a tad retarded but I think Mike's funny and I miss that mindless humor of those Austin Power days that does not include all the extreme raunchy crassness that today's comedies are full of... plus its got Justin Timberlake in a speedo. Ahem. But.... Jessica Alba? Seriously? She's hot and all but why does she keep getting film roles? She's the worst actress ever and her films keep tanking and tanking. Ah well. I would be seeing this for Mike Myers anyway. Check out the trailer below (it comes out June 20th).

Bourne numero quatre

A fourth Bourne movie? C’mon people let it go. Well since Bourne Ultimatum won three Oscars on Sunday – editing, sound editing and sound mixing – every category they were nominated for, the Universal Pictures folks have been freaking out trying to figure out how to extend this wonder trilogy. They are already trying to contact directors and Matt Damon to see if they can get another one rolling. Mind you I love BU and the other two Bourne flicks and would love nothing more than to see Matt Damon grace the screen as much as possible… BUT… didn’t Jason Bourne regain his memory in BU and thus solving the trilogy’s central conflict? Hmmm… I think you guys are grasping for straws. Let it be. We finally have a good trilogy that we can say all three films were quality. Let it be.

A new TV show, quarterlife, premieres tonight on NBC. I haven’t seen it yet but I think you should. Why in the world should you watch it? Well because it is by the makers of My So-Called Life (Marshall Herskovitz and Edward Zwick) is why. Geniuses. One of the best shows of all time. Oh how I miss Angela and Jordan. Swoon. Especially because those were the wonderful pre-freak Jared Leto days. Anyway, quarterlife was actually made for the internet and was originally only going to be shown there, but since the writer’s strike fiasco, NBC saw how brilliant it was and picked it up. It supposedly about some twentysomethings as they deal with relationships, careers, life, drama. Friends but more real (hence no picture-perfect-Ross-and-Rachel probably). You can catch the episodes now at quarterlife.com or check them out tonight (9pm, NBC)… I haven’t seen any yet… but I have heard this internet show buzzed about for some time now – should be good. Plus it has one of my favorite new actors – Scott Michael Foster - from one of my new fav guilty-pleasure shows, Greek.

Update : quarterlife - its different. I totally loved it. Catch it normally on Sundays at 8pm. Do it.

Scrumptious.

Okay dokay. Mixed emotions. Emotions mixed. The new extended Sex and The City trailer was just released today. Sigh. I just watched it and am a tad speechless. It is a whole lot more informational than the first trailer... and a bit spoilerific. If you don't want to know what the movie will really be about, than honestly I wouldn't watch it. Of course I had to because I have absolutely no restraint. But that's me. Of course its wonderful... but the movie is not going to be all roses-champagne-and-happy-endings-ish like I'd hoped. Dang you people and your be realistic mentality! Well, New Line has removed all trailers off the internet except for this one for now, so check out the new trailer here.

Reason # 463 to hate the Writer's Guild of America strike : We will no longer be seeing Pacey Witter grace the halls of Seattle Grace. As most everyone knew (I mentioned it a few times in anxious anticipation), Joshua Jackson was going to be on Grey's Anatomy for a multi-episode arc as a doctor... to eventually become Christina's love interest. He was to start shooting the week the writer's strike began. Well, that happened and now that its finally over... yep... he's no longer available. Actually the reason is pretty cool - he's busy filming in Vancouver. J.J. Abrams hand-picked Joshua to headline his new X-Files-esque Fox series Fringe - its the most buzzed about new show right now and is supposed to be the most expensive pilot ever produced (Lost previously held this title). However, that means we won't get to see him on Grey's. UGH! Pisses. Me. Off.

Friday Night Lights update : Word on da street is, pending a small huge miracle, it will not be returning to NBC. Yes this is a travesty on many levels. Why am I not crying out loud just yet? Because the other word on street is that the show is being shopped around and other networks seem genuinely interested in picking it up. Now this is always a rumor when a cult-loved show is cancelled and it very rarely happens, but it seems to be a distinct possibility for FNL because it is such goooooood television. The channels that are being included in the discussion are The CW, TNT, DirecTV, and Comcast Entertainment Group (includes E! and G4). It is such a unique, amazing show with unbelievable acting. Seriously the fact that Connie Britton has not won an Emmy, not to mention hasn't even been nominated, is downright preposterous. So if this show does get picked up - by who(m)ever (I hate grammar) - you bettah watch, fool.

I love it that those small Texas county speed traps will catch anyone! If you live outside of Texas - they really do. Including Aaron Carter early this morn. In possession of marijuana. Classy. Who is he? Good question. I think he is still sticking to his my-brother-is-a-now-defunct-Backstreet-Boy-but-I-dated-Lindsay-Lohan-and-Hilary-Duff-in-their-pre-pubescent-years-so-please-still-think-I-am-special claim. Poor thing. Even his dad is ashamed of him. Ouch. The Kimble County police station must be the place for the tweeners to be today... well in Junction, TX that is. Holla!

James McAvoy. Gosh could he be any cuter? I think he is such a brilliant actor. He was the only thing I liked about Becoming Jane, somehow made a faun seem adorable in Chronicles of Narnia, looks breathtaking in Atonement (which we have covered I have not yet seen), and seems to be the only reason I see to go see Penelope. He is just scrumptious. Below is his adorably cute appearance on Jay Leno this week... that Scottish accent... wow... deep breath.... yes ladies he's married. Devil!

Oscar... simply my bologna's first name

I could care less about the Oscars on Sunday. This makes me sad because I usually love awards season. I guess the writer's strike has tainted my experience this year along with not getting much into the movies nominated (I am still too big of a baby to watch Atonement. Dang it. Grow up, Ruth!) My Academy Award winning predictions... wow I barely even care enough to write them out -
Best Picture : No Country For Old Men Duh.
Best Actor : Daniel Day-Lewis (There Will Be Blood) Duh.
Best Actress : Julie Christie (Away From Her) Duh.
Best Supporting Actor : Javier Bardem (No Country For Old Men) Duh.
Best Supporting Actress : Cate Blanchett (I'm Not There)
Best Director : Coen Brothers (No Country For Old Men) Duh.
Best Original Screenplay : Diablo Cody (Juno) Please!!!
See? All these "Duh"s. No fun. I guess I am looking forward to some great fashion at least, but it doesn't seem like the guest list is going to be all-that to check out in the first place. So yes, I am going to have to resort to solely focusing on eating cucumber sandwiches at Rachel's wedding shower on Sunday. :) I love cucumbers. More than bologna. So its a no brainer.

I never thought I would get into MMA (mixed martial arts) or any other kind of organized fighting. Ever since I dated a thai boxer/stick fighter for a few years in high school/college, I think it scarred me for life. Seeing him all bloody after breaking people's noses was enough martial arts action for me to take for a lifetime. But I have felt so out of it for so long with everyone's obsession with UFC. Gah! For so long I didn't watch a single fight - I stayed out of it completely. I wish I could say I don't get it but really, I do. After a few friends of mine started training Brazilian jiu jitsu this past year, I have been coming around a bit more. Slowly. I have even watched a few big UFC fights that were on earlier this month and I have to say that they are addicting. Even for a big-baby-girly-girl like me. Buuuuuut if you really expect me to get into enjoying MMA, well then make a movie about it and let a hot guy, say maybe Volchek from The O.C. (moment of silence for its passing), star in it. Well whatdoyaknow? Someone did. Never Back Down opens March 14th starring Cam Gigandet (Volchek, baby! Hawt.). Yeah it looks a tad cheeserie but you know you wanna... and you know I'm gonna... plus I predict these Fight Club-esque movies will soon replace the way overused dance-war genre (I mean I looooved Step Up 2 but enough already). So yeah Fight Club : The Teenage Years comes out just in time for Spring Break. Woot woot!

Oh and good news for all - and by all I mean just me - I am gettin' my hair did tomorrow. Not my favorite salon... just one I have been to before down here in suburbia. But it don' matter, shoot it needs to get done. Homegirl needs her bottle blonde. My poor roots have been screaming at me "help me! help me! all we see is darkness!" Sad, huh? This will be resolved shortly. Yes you can take a big sigh of relief.

Happy Hump(dy Dance) Day

I do love X-Men movies. I have this odd sci fi nerd vein running through me that I usually try to deny. But I don't particularly like Wolverine (albeit lovin' me some Hugh Jackman). Soho when I heard the first X-Men spinoff was going to be X-Men Origins : Wolverine I thought.... bleh whatever. That is until, my fine friends, I heard of the casting news : not only have Definitely uber-hot Ryan Reynolds and Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am signed on, but even more exciting is that Taylor Kitsch of Friday Night Lights (Riggins baby!) has just signed on to play Gambit. Cheese and rice I'm back in the game and lovin' this movie!!! It opens May 2009 (one week before J.J. Abram's Star Trek opens for all you extreme sci fi-ers waiting to get your fill).

All these movies coming out that I want to see - I am loving it! This weekend Charlie Bartlett and Vantage Point are released, both of which I am planning to see and next Friday (Feb 29), dun dun dunnnnn... The Other Boleyn Girl comes out. Although not a psychotic Natalie Portman fan like most of mankind, this movie looks A-mazing.

I got a phone call from Texans for Hillary Clinton last night. Seriously it was a thrill. I was "personally" invited to come hear - gasp - Bill Clinton speak in Galveston. I would rather sit through suicide-inducing P.S. I Love You again than hear that man speak. Can I even call him that? Hear that person speak. Anywho I was also reminded to vote for Hillary in the upcoming election on March 4th. OMG. What election? What exactly are we voting for? OMG I am so lost. Is it a vote to see if we like Miley Cyrus or Hannah Montana more? Because that might be more relevant at this point.

I am addicted. To what now you might ask? The song "Church" by T-Pain. The clean version o-course. I can not stop playing it over and over on my iPod in my car. I absolutely can not get enough as I try to booty-scoot around with my gimp back as I drive. Now it will make you want to dance... and is making me even more of a hazard on the road I am sure. If you need a good dance mix - go d/l it fo sho.

I remembered why I graduated from college in the first place and vowed never to return : studying. What am I thinking? Although I do now know the formula to find the volume of a cylinder, its no fun and draining on my mind. Especially when I have to also plan and teach two different lessons to teach my youth group this week. Argh. If only they would accept my GMAT score from 2002. That would make my day year. But supposedly they only accept scores if they are five years old or less and mine is six. Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh. You can only imagine the "delight" this brings me. And when I say delight, I mean I want to punch your mom in the face! :) Okay not really your mom. Just mine.

I am adding become a Bgirl to my To Do List

So I am not ever one to shy away from a cheesy movie or deny it for that matter. That said, I am also usually one who enjoys raw, edgy independent films and likes to be in on the cutting edge of what films are coming out and earning buzz. That means I should be investing my time right now catching up on films such as There Will Be Blood, No Country For Old Men, Atonement, Michael Clayton, Persepolis, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, The Kite Runner, The Savages, etc. But I am not seeing those movies right now. I just can't handle any made up drama in my life dang it. I got my own going on. I need light, airy, smiles, fun. So for now, I am reverting to cookie-cutter-cheese-happy-ending-blockbusters - and for now I am completely fine with that. I will revert back to reclaim my cool factor sometime at a later date. There is a reason for this disclaimer... just wait until you see the three movies I have seen within this past week or so. :)Jumper. Not a shocker I saw this one since I mentioned it a few times. I thought the premise of it (the whole teleporting thing) was new, inventive and interesing and since it was sooooo heavily advertised I figured the studio thought it was good. But oh man was it lacking. The plot seemed to be half there. It was such a good premise and could have been oh so good... but it needed an extra thirty minutes of plot and character development for sure. It jumped (no pun intended) here and there and then all of a sudden it was over... obviously and unashamedly set up for a sequel. Hmmm... even lovely-to-look-at-but-can't-act-to-save-his-life-totally-peaked-in-Life-As-a-House Hayden Christensen wasn't enough to win me over. Its not awful, but just don't expect too much. Its not like you were anyways. Darn it I was though!

Step Up 2 the Streets. Sigh. Yes I saw this movie. I completely admit it and I completely loved it. Where do I begin? The choreography in this movie blew me away. It was sick. It was so much better than the first movie by leaps and bounds. The bboying and tricks these guys were pulling were unreal. Unreal. Man it was so cool. Makes me want to patch up my gimp back and go take a hip hop freestyle class. (Stop laughing. The same thing happened after I first saw Center Stage. Sad thing is I did it back then.) The music alone was enough to make me love it. Hollatchyogirl. And then... there is the new love of my life... Robert Hoffman. Swoon. No words. A white boy that hot who can move like that. It 'ain't natural and I want it. Want. It. This guy is actually a pimp - he's been a dancer for years and even choreographed You Got Served (won an award for it too!). Plus have you ever heard of The Urban Ninja? Well its buzzed in the YouTube internet following world- that's him. He's got this youtube page - PunchRobert - with crazy funny (albeit a tad inappropriate at times) videos. Did I mention he's hot? Dimples get me every time. I'm in lurve. Anyway, yes the movie has a cheese factor - hello it is another dance war movie - but I really liked it and appreciated the awesome dancing throughout and the cameo by Mr Channing Tatum is alone worth it. It made good money this opening weekend so I am obviously not the only one loving it. One of my favorite scenes is at the beginning of this clip below (just the first 20 seconds) of my man and some chick (okay her name is Briana Evigan and she's hot and an awesome dancer but I'm jealous of her) and its siiiiiiick... put Timbaland's instrumental version of "Bounce" as background music and you got hawtness. Fan yourself off and grab a cold Diet Coke. Whew! Enjoy. You know you want to.

What is a Bgirl, you ask?

Fool's Gold. This one was not planned believe it or not - I really thought it looked like it sucked from the trailers and wasn't really wanting to see it. So I think going into it with very low expectations helped. Since going in like that, I actually ended up liking it. No it wasn't as good as How To Lose A Guys in Ten Days but nothing really is. The trailer actually didn't do it justice and I found it was a bit more fascinating in the whole historical-treasure-hunting area. Its hard to explain if you havent seen it I guess. I love history. So although not Oscar-worthy by any means, it was better than I thought and it reteamed Matty McCutie and adorable Kate Hudson who looked so pretty the whole time with very minimal make up which was actually a bit nauseating... so overall definitely okay dokay for a chick flick.

You got no fear of the underdog, thats why you will not survive

Not too much has been going on with me the past few days but I feel like they've been busy.

I almost threw up during a movie. I went and saw Cloverfield. I actually thought it was okay and definitely not what I thought it would be - it was based around a love story (awwwww). JJ Abrams' originality is so consistently brilliant its mind boggling. But the Blair-Witch-Project-esque shaky camera work literally made me nauseous. And I don't usually get motion/car/sea sick. But I had to walk out in the middle of it to get my eyes off of the screen, and barely made it through. And then I was nauseous for a while after and had a headache the rest of the night. Seriously. I am glad I saw... but taking into consideration the cost-benefit analysis... I am not sure it was worth it. My advice: don't go on a full stomach.

The more I find out about it, the more I can't wait to see the movie, Jumper. I mean, hello! Darth Vader meets Summer Roberts. Can't fake that kind of "meet cute". Plus Hayden Christensen and Rachel Bilson are adorable (and dating in real life). But it looks like a great Blockbuster kind of movie. I am excited about it. Jumper comes out on Valentines Day... so I can go enjoy it as I drown my single tears in Peanut M&Ms and Diet Coke.

I literally couldn't sleep last night I was so distraught over John McCain's win over Mitt Romney in the Florida primary yesterday. Sigh. Why can't Mike Huckabee drop out? He isn't going to do anything except take votes away from Romney. Who cared if Guiliani dropped out... he was so 2007. McCain-Lieberman, McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy... do you know what these bills that McCain wrote and promoted entailed? Well you better look into them. This is not a man I want as our candidate. Sadly, thinking of the Democrat alternative is even worse. Every time I think about this whole campaign I get so upset at this point, so I just stop and pray. God is still in control. He is our ultimate authority anyway.

I finally washed my car today. Finally. Poor Betty Boop has been needin' a rub down for a while and it was a beautiful, sunny (yet windy) morning so I went to get an oil change and a wash. She was beautiful and shiny... for five hours. Then it rained. That's why I don't wash my car.

I can not tell you HOW annoyed I am about how the media is treating Heath Ledger. He was a good guy. No not perfect by any means. But seriously. Why are you using all of your time to dig up dirt on him that obviously wasn't significant enough to even come out while he was alive, after he is already gone? It makes no sense to me. It pisses me off. Maybe I won't buy US Weekly Magazine ever again. Whooooooa. Lets not do anything crazy here. Maybe I'll just boycott this week's issue. Yeah... that'll show 'em!

Texas A&M men's basketball team beat Texas tonight, 80-63.Whoop baby!

I almost got eaten by a giant possum tonight. Okay that might be a tad over-dramatization but dang it, it is close. I was standing out by my car talking to my friend Ryan and we look up and see this huge possum on top of the fence in front of our cars. Of course I freaked out. It was creepy looking. Like Princess-Bride-type-animals creepy looking. Yellowish white beady eyes. Long rat tail. And it was big, like medium-sized-dog big. And it wasn't going anywhere. Ryan tried to pull that whole "he is more afraid of us than we are of him" crap but I didn't believe him... especially when he went to yell at it to scare it and even shake the fence... and it DID. NOT. BUDGE. I used Ryan as a human shield as I crept into my car and drove off with a shudder. Gross. I am sure I could have been more mature and shrug the whole thing off once I saw the hideous creature, but well... that just wouldn't be me.

I am heading to Denton tomorrow for a day or two. Another road trip - woo hoo. I obviously haven't had enough quality time on I-45 this month. Its going to be cold up there. Arrrrrr. (But not cold like NYC. Poor Jenn - I think she's freezing her lil Mont Belvieu patootie off!)

Definitely not twice

Tonight I finally saw Once on DVD. I have been wanting to see this much buzzed-about musical indie flick... mostly because I have heard how spectacular the soundtrack is. Yes the music is awesome, however the movie is not. It has a documentary-ish style to it and has real no plot at all. For the mostpart they simply sing their songs over and over which are good the first five times you hear them. The people have such heavy accents that most of the time you can't even understand what they are saying - the guy in it is English and the girl is Czechoslovakian (I'm not an idiot I know Czechoslovakia does not exist anymore but I miss being able to say it). Its just kinda annoying... one of those movies you keep checking the clock to see if its almost over. So pass on the movie, but pick up the soundtrack.

There is nothing wrong with being prepared

For some reason (oh we all know the reason - I'm me) I am always on the lookout for the perfect wedding dress. Maybe its simply because its all that matters to me about my wedding day (sans groom) or probably because its so far from something I need to be worrying about right now. Either way, I love wedding gowns. For the past few years I have come to the conclusion that in a perfect world I would have a wedding dress designed by Monique Lhuillier. Feminine, romantic and ethereal, her designs are my absolute favorite. One with a touch of pink would be exquisite.

But. Oh but but. Leave it up to friggin' Katherine Heigl to try and change my mind. I absolutely adore the Oscar De La Renta wedding gown she got married in last weekend. Simple yet elegant yet girly and silhouetted to perfection. Eeek. Love it. So does that mean Oscar De La Renta will now be on my backup list next to Vera Wang? Well yes because that is the world I live in. You know... the world where Jeffrey Dean Morgan is actually the groom on my wedding day and all cheese is fat free. Yes that world.

I guess while we are speaking of weddings and K-Heig... it would be useless to not go ahead and discuss 27 Dresses, her new movie. Two birds, one stone, right? This movie comes out soon (January 18th) and basically is an exaggerated take on "always the bridesmaid, never the bride". Of course I wanted to see this - what a stupid question. Its a chick flick and "luckily" I can relate to the frustrations of being a serial bridesmaid (although I have loved each and every experience, ladies... and can't wait for yours, Miss Rachel!). That said, I have actually already seen the movie. Stop judging. Its not my fault I'm so now - I went with a friend to a sneak preview. Sheesh. And although I did not expect much from it (realistically), I really liked it. Sweet, quite funny, endearing... everything I could ask for. Even encouraging for those like us who have been there. I really enjoyed it. None of those P.S. I Love You-I-want-to-slit-my-wrist feelings ensued. So if you are having a girls night and looking for a fun girly flick - do it. Are you going to make me say it - okay James Marsden is hot and that beautiful smile of his certainly didn't hurt the film one bit. Yummy.

Ellen Page is my hero

Cinematic reviews time. Okay so I saw two movies this weekend - no this should not surprise you because there ain't much going on with me right now. Anyway - one was awful and one was phenomenal.

The important thing is: go see Juno. Seriously. It is so good I barely have words to describe it. It is the new Garden State, Little Miss Sunshine, Napoleon Dynamite, Last Kiss, etc. - I seriously include Juno in this category of "badass indie films that will go mainstream because they are so good". Its been getting tons of buzz from the film festival circuit and even award show nominations. I have been hearing how stellar newcomer Ellen Page is as sixteen year old, pregnant Juno (she's nominated for a Golden Globe already) and she blew me away. Her snarky, witty, emo portrayal is second to none. She deserves all the acclaim she is getting for this role and then some. There is nothing I love and respect more than great sarcastic banter and she's got so many great one liners in that movie I wouldn't know where to start to share. Its just freakin' funny and surprisingly heartfelt. Have I sold you yet? Well if I haven't, the music (already bought the soundtrack) is a magnificent, eclectic addition and gives the flick that much more character. Then you have Michael Cera. I do not believe I need to go on. Go see it.

Sigh. Then there's P.S. I Love You. Just typing the title again makes me tear up. The most depressing thing I have ever seen. It is just somber and sad. Not the good sad where there is a kind of silver lining. Just miserable. I don't care if you think I am giving any ending away - I mean the whole movie is about a woman trying to get over her beloved husband dying - but I don't want anyone to have to see it anyways. If you are in any kind of lonely place in your life like I am, this movie is extra bad-news-bears for you. I have been so gloomy ever since I saw it. and... Hilary Swank is not cute/adorable enough to handle a lead in a "romantic comdedy"... that is if you can call this crap a "romantic comedy". I would refer to it more as "motivation to swallow some Drano". Yeah I know. The only only only upside to the movie would be the men. Yes thats a bit of a duh statement but we are talking about scrumptious Gerard Butler and Denny (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). And not just Denny... but Denny with an Irish accent. Playing a guitar. Roaaaaaaar. I know. But still all the beautifully accented and muscular yumminess does not make it worth the need to go on anti-depressants. Pass.

Have I not learned my lesson with romantic comedies yet? Ugh. Probably not because even though I can't really figure out exactly what its about, I am excited about a new one coming out (by the lovely U.K. makers of Notting Hill, Bridget Jones) with Ryan Reynolds in February : Definitely, Maybe. Craptacular. You know I'll be there Valentine's Day like the girly sucker I am.

My cheese(head) is all time No. 1

Which do I love more? The fact that the Dallas Cowboys lost today... or the fact that everyone - and I mean everyone - seems to be blaming it on Jessica Simpson for being a bad luck charm (check out the video of her at the game)... it is definitely a toss up but both make me extremely happy. But it would probably would have to be Brett Favre finally surpassing Dan Marino to become the NFL career leader in yards passing (with 61,405 yds) today while beating the St. Louis Rams and simaltaneously clinching the Green Bay Packers a first round bye in the playoffs... that makes me the happiest. Oh Brett. You make me smile.

What else do I got? Well how about the first trailer being released for The Dark Night (Batman Begins prequel). July 18th. Christian Bale + Heath Ledger - Katie Zombie Holmes = Hands Down Bad A Movie. Check out an awesome version of the trailer
HERE. You're welcome.

And so the countdown begins...

... to May 30th. Oh happy day - the first Sex and the City Movie trailer has just been released. Squeel. Words can not contain my excitement for this movie. I just hope its as good as it could be and it doesn't hurt the series all together. I am expecting the former. Enjoy!

If you want to see more pictures from the movie filming (and maybe a little spoilerage action) you can check out the official Sex and the City Movie Blog.

If you were mine, I'd be a couch potato

Are you guys watching Dirty Sexy Money? Well if you’re not, you should (Wed on ABC @ 9pm). It’s one of my favorite new shows of the season and it is quirky family dysfunction at its best – I love it. I just wanted to point how uber-adorable is the unpredictable pairing of Jeremy Darling and Lisa George (Nick’s wife) that came to head last night? Eeek! Not that I promote marital affairs at all... but I cannot wait to see these two get together – their chemistry was just undeniably hot. Just precious. Sadly I think they are out of new episodes until after the crap-strike so we will have to wait for more!

And just a reminder that Atonement comes out tomorrow in theaters. Gasp. Finally. I have been waiting for this movie to come out for a while now. Any period piece with Kiera Knightley packed with James McAvoy (swoon) by the makers of Pride and Prejudice and Bridget Jones looks amazing to me. I am a little more hesitant, however, after my emotional breakdown after seeing Becoming Jane - I literally could not stop crying after that movie. So I am hoping this one won't be quite as heart breaking. It is based on a book so I suppose I could have read it... but lets be honest I have no intention on doing so. :) You can check out the trailer if you wish here.

However, probably a movie I want to see even more is Juno. Its a new independent film being buzzed about - well everywhere - with the delictable Michael Cera (most importantly) and Jason Bateman and Jennifer Garner. Its only out on limited release right now but go check it out.

What we have been waiting three long years for...

The return of Sex and the City. Its back baby! As you can see by the pictures, the movie has officially begun shooting in New York City and all our favorites are in. Mr. Big, Harry, Samantha, everyone... even Jennifer Hudson has even come on as Carrie's new assistant (why she needs an assistant is sorda beyond me... but thats a whole lotta Manolo Blahniks to buy!). The only one I am unsure of would be Jason Lewis (aka Smith... swoooooon) which would be a darn shame. I can only imagine how awesome this movie is going to be. How much did we miss these ladies? So much. Look at those shoes!!! After all of my speculating (dude I called it last November), its finally being filmed. They have already grabbed the release date of May 30, 2008... so we might as well start planning our girls night out NOW. Flirtinis for everyone!
