Vandalism circa two-double-oh-eight

Its 2008. Gas prices have risen above $4 as the national average and everyone is tense and jittery about this. You don't even want to get me started on some the craaaaapy bills that these retarded senators are drawing up to solve this energy crisis (i.e. Lieberman-Warner). Crap I'm started. These guys are morons. Mo-freakin-rons. Drill in Alaska you dang tree huggers. Seriously you would rather make sure to protect the water buffalos and tax us to kingdom come and let your lil ole grandmama die from a heat stroke cause she had to walk to the 7-11 to buy a slushie instead of driving her Ford Crown Victoria there because the increasing gas prices didn't fit into her monthly budget then try and drill in ANWR. See? Thats what you're doing here. Sheesh. Lets become energy independent. At least try to. Hello! It ain't rocket science.

Okay I'm done. I am really not an expert on this subject (there's gotta be at least one!) and don't claim to be - just my opinion. Point of this... no longer should we worry about car-jackings, because hey who can pay for the gas to go into that freaking car? Yeah exactly. Not nobody who is boosting cars anyway. And certainly not nobody who can't speak correct English. Anywho - this is just something to look forward to. Now mind you, I live in suburbia. I mean suuuuriously. This kinda stuff should only be seeping down to suburbia after the urbanite folks are guinea pigs first (although I have heard it happening to big rigs as of late). Don't you hoodlums know anything? So the thing thats been happening around my neighborhood is that people are stealing gas out of cars. Like literally opening up the gas cap and sucking the gas out of the cars. It happened to the people who live directly across the street from us. I know. Smart! Crazy-Awful! Yeah it sucks. I guess as gas prices continue to skyrocket this kind of vandalism might become more and more common. Which is kinda creepy-scary. But no worries about Betty Boop (me automobile). If someone tries to touch her booty - she'll scream. She ain't no hussie. So I think she's safe. However if you have a hoochie for a car, you might wanna think about investing in some double-sided tape for that gas cap... Uh huh. You know who you are.

I want this guy's job.

This is from a few weeks ago, but funny nonetheless so I thought I would share. It represents my thoughts exactly. :)

Truckers shmuckers

Did everyone else know there is this big trucker's strike going on right now? Genius over here did not realize that. Blonde moment I guess (one of many). We are getting a new fence built in our backyard and I have been getting annoyed that the fence builder people took the time to rip down the entire old one but have, literally, only put up like eight spokes (?) of the new one. They did that like almost a week ago. So we basically haven't had a fence for a week and its not fun to deal with when you have three big dogs. Anyway, I found myself wondering where the fence builder people were because they need to finish and add to their eight spokes... I assumed they were being lazy and nondiligent (is that a word? oh well its redundant anyway). But then I come to find out that they don't have any new wood spokes because of the trucker's strike (gasp!) and won't have any until its over. Excuse me? Who would ever have imagined I would care the status of a nationwide trucker's strike... but I do! Its almost... almost... as bad as the Writer's Guild of America Strike of '07-'08. Then again, that's just entertainment isn't it? Hmmm... priorities....

So I am wrong once a year... or so.

Crap. A. Duck. I am posting this with an "I admit I was wrong" purpose. I am only admitting I as wrong publicly because I have repeatedly argued with both Jill and my sister, Rachel, along with many other people I am sure, that there is no way that Sirius and XM Satellite radio stations will ever merge. Ever. This has been rumored for years now, but I have always said that the government would never let them have a monopoly like this with all of the Justice Department's strict anti-trust laws, since there would be no other satellite radio providers on the market, blah blah blah. Seriously there would be only one sole satellite radio provider in the U.S. Hello! I think I used to literally laughed in their faces numerous times because I believed it to be ludicrous.

Mouth, meet foot. Please insert.

Today, the Justice Department officially approved the merger of Sirius and XM radio, even saying, verbatim, "the deal was unlikely to hurt competition or consumers." (Hogwash!) The buyout still has to be approved by the FCC, yada yada yada, but point is - its going to happen eventually. So before I get a lot of "I told you so"s... I'll go ahead and say "You told me so". Dang it! I thought I was so right on this one! Actually it will probably be a good thing -even for me- because one of the reasons I have never gotten satellite radio is because I could never decide between the two providers. Buuuuuuut I would have rather stayed indecisive listening to AM/FM poo then be wrong. :)

Happy Hump(dy Dance) Day

I do love X-Men movies. I have this odd sci fi nerd vein running through me that I usually try to deny. But I don't particularly like Wolverine (albeit lovin' me some Hugh Jackman). Soho when I heard the first X-Men spinoff was going to be X-Men Origins : Wolverine I thought.... bleh whatever. That is until, my fine friends, I heard of the casting news : not only have Definitely uber-hot Ryan Reynolds and Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am signed on, but even more exciting is that Taylor Kitsch of Friday Night Lights (Riggins baby!) has just signed on to play Gambit. Cheese and rice I'm back in the game and lovin' this movie!!! It opens May 2009 (one week before J.J. Abram's Star Trek opens for all you extreme sci fi-ers waiting to get your fill).

All these movies coming out that I want to see - I am loving it! This weekend Charlie Bartlett and Vantage Point are released, both of which I am planning to see and next Friday (Feb 29), dun dun dunnnnn... The Other Boleyn Girl comes out. Although not a psychotic Natalie Portman fan like most of mankind, this movie looks A-mazing.

I got a phone call from Texans for Hillary Clinton last night. Seriously it was a thrill. I was "personally" invited to come hear - gasp - Bill Clinton speak in Galveston. I would rather sit through suicide-inducing P.S. I Love You again than hear that man speak. Can I even call him that? Hear that person speak. Anywho I was also reminded to vote for Hillary in the upcoming election on March 4th. OMG. What election? What exactly are we voting for? OMG I am so lost. Is it a vote to see if we like Miley Cyrus or Hannah Montana more? Because that might be more relevant at this point.

I am addicted. To what now you might ask? The song "Church" by T-Pain. The clean version o-course. I can not stop playing it over and over on my iPod in my car. I absolutely can not get enough as I try to booty-scoot around with my gimp back as I drive. Now it will make you want to dance... and is making me even more of a hazard on the road I am sure. If you need a good dance mix - go d/l it fo sho.

I remembered why I graduated from college in the first place and vowed never to return : studying. What am I thinking? Although I do now know the formula to find the volume of a cylinder, its no fun and draining on my mind. Especially when I have to also plan and teach two different lessons to teach my youth group this week. Argh. If only they would accept my GMAT score from 2002. That would make my day year. But supposedly they only accept scores if they are five years old or less and mine is six. Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh. You can only imagine the "delight" this brings me. And when I say delight, I mean I want to punch your mom in the face! :) Okay not really your mom. Just mine.

Mitt's out

Mitt Romney just quit the Presidential race today. Although even I admitted that John McCain was to a point where he was somewhat unbeatable, I am disappointed and discouraged by this latest turn of events. John McCain has now sewn up the Republican Presidential nomination. There are no more words needed - you know how I feel about this.

Not So Super Tuesday

I was dreading waking up this morning - simply because I did not want to see the official results for Super Tuesday. So upsetting. On every level. I do NOT understand. Boggles my mind. Even though its not over, it looks like John McCain will be the Repulican nominee for President in November. It does not make any sense. Who is voting for him? Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, James Dobson, Mark Levin, Ann Coulter, Laura Ingram (must I go on)... all the significant conservative voices of our time have come out against John McCain talking about what a liberal, sleazy guy he is. I personally consider myself intelligent enough to figure this out on my own, but even for those people who solely rely on conservative talk radio and such to help make their decisions... what are they doing? Especially after the shady shady actions of the McCain campaign the past two days - including their sketchy back-room-politics in the West Virginia primary and their manipulation of Senator Bob Dole - its disgraceful and shows you what kind of person he is. It makes me so sad. I don't know how the Republican voters have moved so far left - it doesn't help that the liberal mainstream media are in love with and cover no one else but McCain, basically because he is one of them. Who wants to elect someone who has repeatedly turned his back on his own party to hold hands with the opposition? That's exactly what McCain has repeatedly done.

James Dobson, Chairmen/Founder of Focus on Family, released a statement yesterday revealing his disapproval of John McCain and stating that if he was the Republican nominee for President, and considering the Democrat alternatives, Dobson would not be voting in the Presidential election for the first time in his lifetime. As heartbreaking as it may be, I might have to follow suit. I will definitely have to think on that more. The conservative Republican base showed its distaste for their non-conservative candidates by staying home in November 2006 when Democrats took back the House of Representatives, and darn it they'll do it again in November if they have to.

That said, I will still be voting in full force for Mitt Romney in Texas' primary on March 4th... I have even joined his volunteer team last week to make phone calls... but when you really do the delgate math, I don't think it is possible for him to overtake McCain. We shall see. I pray daily for the country, Mitt Romney, and whoever God allows to become our leader. Only He is sovereign over all. However one of the few things that does bring me comfort admidst all of this is history : America had to have someone like Jimmy Carter in order to be ready for someone like Ronald Reagan. It looks like 2008 might be our modern day 1976.

Too bad I don't have an opinion on this, huh? :) Love me anyway.

Mitt's da Man

This morning... hmmm... Well. I seem a bit slow for some reason. I think its because I'm tired. Not because I really do anything, mind you, but because I have not been sleeping well. I think its catching up to me finally.

After the recent drop-outs of my favorite candidates, I am officially going to be supporting Mitt Romney in the Texas Presidential Primary. I feel like his overall platform and stance are definitely the best package I am going to find in the current race. I have heard him speak many times and after much research, compared to the alternatives I feel the most comfortable with him as my future leader. Yes, my beloved Duncan Hunter has thrown his support behind Mike Huckabee which is upsetting. Duuuuuncan! No sir. I do not agree with that and can not blindly follow you there. That said, overall I am worried the "conservative" (if you can call it that) Republican primary votes are being split between Romney and Huckabee and all the more "moderate, liberal" Republican primary votes are going to McCain.... so in the end, it would be McCain coming out on top. Ugggggh. Please no. He has such liberal stances on so many key issues - this man will open up our borders and let Osama Bin Laden himself come in. Currently, Romney is ahead of McCain as far as delegate count, 73 to 38 -which is all the matters - but it pretty much all hangs in the balance of what happens on Super Tuesday primaries(February 5th). Eek. Oh drama drama drama.

Duncan Hunter to the end

And so it begins. The official beginning of the 2008 Presidential race as the Iowa Caucuses are beginning tomorrow. Sigh. I actually say this with hesitation, discouragement and sadness. I have yet to be encouraged about the Republican ticket. Or any ticket for that matter. There is not one true conservative that is currently being considered at the top of the race. On the Republican side – Mitt Romney, John McCain, Rudy Guiliani and now Mike Huckabee are considered front runners and none of which I personally want to support.

And do NOT get me started on Mike Huckabee. Scary. Scary because he is gaining so much momentum and I am not really sure why. Hello! He is not a true conservative, people. Yes he is a strong Christian, even once being a Baptist preacher, and that is why I am afraid he is attracting the evangelical (blind) right. But although he is a social conservative (abortion, same sex marriage, etc) he has liberal stances on spending, free trade, taxes, almost every domestic policy issue. Ugh! Yes I support his faith-based approach to government but his record does not lie. So those of you out there thinking Huckabee is it, I do not agree. If still considered a front-runner, I could consider supporting Fred Thompson but he seems to have lost steam as well.

Then there is
Duncan Hunter. Oh Duncan Hunter. Ronald Reagan resurrected. As sad as I am that he has not gained the momentum he deserves, I am still going to support him to the end… or at least until March 4th (the Texas primary). All I have to do is remember Ronald Reagan lost in 1976 and we all know how that turned out. I believe Hunter to be the epitome of a true conservative leader and would be a shining light to conservatives in this moderate liberal world. I will not give up! If I had the money to, I would be in Iowa right now working the polls for him (I got the offer to but no funds – if anyone is into sponsorship please let me know!)

That said, obviously obviously obviously, I will definitely support whoever wins the Republican nomination over anyone that is currently on the Democratic ticket. There is no need to get into the fact that they are ALL socialists.

Did you make the list?

"Awk-ward!" Although I have had a few "out there", rough moments this year, thankfully they weren't bad enough (or I am just not famous enough - duh.) to make TIME Magazine's Top 10 Most Awkward Moments of 2007. I thought they were interesting and a nice recap to the year:

1.) Columbia University President Lee Bollinger invites the Iranian president to speak on campus.
2.) Paris Hilton cries for her mommy.
3.) Alec Baldwin rips his daughter a new one (classy).
4.) David Hasselhoff drunk in the shower.
5.) Family values Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) admits his number is in the so-called D.C. Madam's little black book.
6.) Britney Spears' zombie dance at the MTV Video Music Awards.
7.) Rosie O'Donnell calls co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck a coward on "The View."
8.) Fox TV censors Sally Field at the Emmy Awards.
9.) Miss Teen South Carolina says Americans don't know about geography because they lack maps. (my personal favorite)
10.) Rudy Giuliani's kids won’t back him for president.

Speaking of year-end recaps, Google has also released their Zeitgeist for the year 2007 to conclude their top searches and inquiries in all kinds of fields: news, celebrities, sports, music, food, games, etc. Its interesting if you like that kind of thing and you can check out the website here. This year people wanted to know most about iPhones, the Master Cleanse diet, Transformers, pilates, how to kiss, HD DVD, Ron Paul, American Idol and the mosquito ringtone (you gotta check this out. Its ridiculous. Is it real? I couldn't hear the under 24 ringtone! Eek!). Anyways, overall the fastest rising searches for the U.S. for the year 2007 were as follows:

1. iphone (want one. bad. bad bad.)
2. webkinz (huh? google it. duh.)
3. tmz (pyscho paparazzi that makes my life fulfilling)
4. transformers (my favorite movie this year)
5. youtube (what would i do without you?)
6. club penguin (another "what the?". people are weird.)
7. myspace (soooo 2005, people. c'mon. of course i'm still a member though. heehee)
8. heroes (love love love this tv show)
9. facebook (been a member since 2006. the new myspace.)
10. anna nicole smith (sad...)

No Sham Today!

The immigration bill is dead. Thank God. Shamnesty and the support of breaking the laws of our country will not prevail today. When I first heard about this bill I was shocked and upset but definitely not sure if it would pass anyways… but after the past few weeks and hearing all the Senators' rumblings, I thought they would for sure get their 60 votes. They voted this morning and the bill only got 46. Whoop! So now its dead. Why is this, you ask? Why all the switcheroos? Senator Sessions was reporting that this morning the Senate phone system was shut down due to the overwhelming public outcry. Amazing. See! If enough of us talk, they will listen. I saw that Senator Sam Brownback (Republican Presidential Candidate) switched his vote, as I was so disappointed in him when I saw his vote earlier this week was a YEA. Texas’ own Kay Bailey Hutchinson and John Cornyn (who was an integral leader in the fight against this bill) were both NAYs (duh). You can click here to see a list of the YEAs and NAYs from the vote. If you care about this, check it out. If you don’t care about this… well its your country... so you should.

Gore Supports the War in Iraq.... who knew?

I love it! Al Gore… the revolutionary leader of the Global Warming bull crap movement… wants to tell us about mean bad Iraq. Now remember… Gore is of course on the left wing liberal band wagon that George W. Bush (43) lied to us about there being possibility of nuclear weapons in Iraq (you know cuz he made it up for the fun of it), that there are no terrorist organizations present in Iraq before we went in (the mean bad Americans have caused them), and that we should just be friendly with them and leave them alone to do what they think is best.

But… Gore didn’t always say these things. Back on the campaign trail as Vice President in 1992, he was singing a whole different tune. You have to watch the video. Please. Its glorious. Gore goes on and on about how Iraq is simply a cesspool of terrorists and terrorist supported organizations and that it George H Bush (41) did not do enough to stop them… pretty much saying Bush 41 was not hard enough on them. Gore goes on to say that Saddam Hussein “was not only promoting terrorism but was also pursuing a nuclear weapons program.” I reeeeeeeeally hope you are laughing out loud because I sure am. Oh that Al Gore. I mean he wants to lead the country and all but obviously doesn’t know what his own mind thinks. This is the same man that in the last three years has said over and over that Bush 43 had no reason to go into Iraq, that he lied to us about there being nuclear weapons in Iraq and that there was no real tie between Iraq and terrorism. Bush (41) is held to blame for intentionally concealing from the American people the true nature of Saddam Hussein and his regime and for convincing himself that friendly relations with such a monster would be possible.” Well, Goreypoo, you say that then… but now you are saying that Bush 43 is the real monster for trying to actually tell the American people about it and deal with them. So much contradiction… so little time.

Wait for it… it gets better.

Gore also so kindly details out for us (man…thanks Al!) all the intelligence information received about Iraq that clearly stated that “Iraq continued to cooperate with terrorists and that it was meddling in ledman (chemical?), that it was working hard in chemical and biological weapons and new missiles…. and most significant of all is that the CIA reported to Secretary of State (James) Baker and other top Bush (41) administration officials, that Iraq was clandestinely procuring nuclear weapons technology to a global network of front companies…this nation that has a record of terrorism, continuing, was making a sustained, concerted effort to acquire weapons of mass destruction, nuclear, chemical and biological…and that this alarming information came from the CIA, the Defense Department, the Energy Department, the Commerce Department, the Justice Department, the State Department and other agencies throughout the government.” Yowza. If that’s not a definition of terrorism I don’t know what is! And the fact that you admit intelligence across the board defends this... craziness!

I just appreciate Al Gore supporting Dubya like this. I mean the things he is saying here… is what Bush 43 has said all along. I am sure Dubya will be happy to know his rival from 2000 now agrees with him. Oh wait. I forgot. Gore’s a left winger. He has since had to forget everything he used to know to take on whatever the other liberals of his party are now saying. Too bad… I wonder what the Nobel Peace Prize
committee would think about seeing a copy of this video. Anyone got their address?

P.S. Sorry about the YouTube Rachel! =]

Please Lord be with these families

For some reason, I have been crying off and on all day about this Virginia Tech catastrophe. I am sure you all know about it by now. Of course it is a travesty but it is just breaking my heart. It is really making me so sad. All I can think about are all those kids who woke up to go to class today… not knowing something like this could ever happen to them…. All those parents of the now 32 (and probably more as time goes on) students that are dead… and all the other family members who are frantically trying to call to see if their kids are okay or not. Can imagine how frightening that is? Especially if your kid was an engineering major or something like that (since alot of the shooting happened inside of an engineering building).

Even though it was a different kind of catastrophe, I guess it also makes me sad because it reminds me of when Bonfire fell. November 18, 1999 is definitely a day I can never and will never forget. I just remember everyone so frantic to get a hold of every single person they knew (especially who were involved with "cut") to make sure they were safe. I remember the phones lines (cell and landlines) being so bogged done no one could get through to anyone. The phones literally stopped working from parents and family members trying to get in contact with their loved ones. I can only imagine that’s what it’s like in Virginia right now - definitely more so. How scary for worried and terrified parents!!! I also remember the moment when I realized that there was one friend who was a Bonfire Chief I couldn’t find - Miranda - and that she was working the night of the collapse. She never came out.

Please join me in praying for the poor families of the deceased students – that God’s comfort will envelope them. I also pray for all the scared and now very scarred students – none of us will be able to understand what they have gone through today.

Who is Gerald Ford?

Gerald Ford, the 38th president of the United States, died this morning at the age of 93. But who exactly is Gerald Ford? Since I think it is important you know, I am going to tell you. He was an extremely significant leader in our country at one of the most painful, controversial times in our nation’s history. Gerald Ford was in office as our President from August 9, 1974 through January 20, 1977.

The year 1973 was a tough and painful year in our nation’s history. At a time when our country was distraught over continued death and defeat in Vietnam, fear and panic during the beginning of the Cold War drama with Russia, it was also plagued with its leadership’s scandal. While President Richard Nixon was trying to cover-up the truth behind the Watergate Scandal, all of his aides and subordinates were slowly resigning in disgrace. On October 10, 1973, Vice President Spiro Agnew resigned. President Nixon then appointed Gerald Ford (who at the time was the House Minority Leader) to be the 40th Vice President of the United States on October 12. This was the first time the 25th Amendment had been implemented to fill the vacancy of the VP. (Section 2 of the 25th Amendment says: “Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress”.)

The Watergate investigation continued to intoxicate the country but when new videotape evidence came to light on August 1, 1974, Nixon resigned and Ford assumed the Presidency. Ford became the only president in U.S. history to fill that office without having been elected either President or Vice-President.

The most controversial issue that Ford took part in was on September 8, 1974, when he gave Nixon a full and unconditional pardon for any crimes he may have committed while President. In a nationally televised broadcast, he said that this was in the best interest of the country and that this "is an American tragedy in which we all have played a part. It could go on and on and on, or someone must write the end to it. I have concluded that only I can do that, and if I can, I must." This is what many people say was his downfall and cost him the 1976 election. The pardon was highly controversial and a lot of critics claimed that “a corrupt bargain” had been made between these two men and Ford never truly recovered from it. Actually Ford's first press secretary and close friend Jerald terHorst resigned his post in protest after the announcement of President Nixon's full pardon.

Many Republicans protested Ford’s policies as they were very moderate in nature at a time when conservatives were looking for their strong ring leader. Not only did Ford first bring up the issue of granting amnesty to any and all Vietnam draft dodgers, but many conservatives did not believe he was harsh or bold enough with the communist Russia and People’s Republic of China that were rising in power and ammunition during the height of the Cold War.

I just found out that while in law school at Texas Tech University, my father, Michael Wilson, led a picket to protest Gerald Ford in Lubbock, TX of all places when Ford came to visit because of his weak stance with communists. Who knew those Wilsons were so crazy?! Ok you did. :}

Despite this controvesy, Ford is seen as the man who came in to comfort a mourning and hurt country. Since I know you probably don’t want me to continue any longer, I’ll spare you further details. Bascially, in the 1976 Presidental election, Ford was defeated by Democratic nominee and former Georgia governor Jimmy Carter. He was never truly elected President and the controversy of his pardon of Nixon plagued him throughout the rest of his life. However, he and his wife, Betty, remained politically active in his post-presidential years. Betty even established the world-renowned Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, California for the treatment of chemical dependency. She first originiated this idea when she was the subject of an intervention herself in 1978, as she was a victim of drugs and alcoholism, even during Ford’s presidency.

One bit of trivia I found interesting… George H. Bush (41) was the CIA Director under Ford while he was president and so therefore you can expect that George W. Bush (43) was visible to Ford at the time and that they probably knew each other farely well personally. President Bush, along with many others, issued their condolences this morning in reaction to Ford’s death.

Ok I’m done. I hope you found this a bit interesting. I did leave out some important details… but when you saw on the news today that former President Gerald Ford died, I wanted you to realize who this man was, when and why and how he led the country, before I (and probably you) was even born, and the importance of his legacy.

Whats a Zeitgeist?

Its that time of year! How can you tell you ask? Well because its time for The 2006 Year-end Google Zeitgeist. What the? Exactly. I am always fascinated by what other people are looking up on the web (read: I am really a loser nerd), so I am intrigued to see what the top Google searches were this year. Ahhh you know you are too. At least a leetle. So Google has its annual "zeitgeist" (yes that is beyond an SAT word for me and I had to look it up. It is a German word that means "The spirit of the age; the taste, outlook, and spirit characteristic of a period" and also "it denotes the intellectual and cultural climate of an era." Wow. So deep. So Google.) to tally up the top searches of the year.

Google.com - Top Searches in 2006
1. bebo
2. myspace
3. world cup
4. metacafe
5. radioblog
6. wikipedia
7. video
8. rebelde
9. mininova
10. wiki

Google News - Top Searches in 2006
1. paris hilton
2. orlando bloom
3. cancer
4. podcasting
5. hurricane katrina
6. bankruptcy
7. martina hingis
8. autism
9. 2006 nfl draft
10. celebrity big brother 2006

I know what you are thinking... what is bebo and why in the world are people really wanting to know news about Paris Hilton??? As for bebo, as I tried to search for what supposedly everyone (you?) besides myself has been searching for, all I could come up with is that it must be Bebo.com which seems to be a Myspace/Facebook-ish online community... thingy. I guess its so now. I must be so 2005 as I only search for Myspace. Sigh. Why am I always one step behind? As for people honestly searching for Paris, its gotta be the increase in crack consumed by the general public this year. Just say no. Other queries from this list: is there something going on with Martina Hingis I dont know about and of course rebelde, metacafe, and mininova obviously go way over my head.

As for the rest of the Zeitgeist, its more uselss but wonderul facts and information about what people in America obsessed about in 2006. For instance, this year YOU:

~ wondered who Borat and the Hezbollah were
~
needed promiscuous defined (haha lets pray this one was made up of all 10 year olds who thought that nelly furtado must be so clever and smart)
~ want to know
where Matt (still dont get it) and Togo are and Barack Obama is so Q4 (do NOT get me started on that one)
~ were more
intrigued by Nicole Kidman's wedding than space-cadet Tom Cruise's (duh)
~
love the Cheetah Girls ??? Well supposedly all you people were looking up tickets to go to their concert. Scary. But you also all wanted to go see Luke Wilson in Idiocracy. Odd.
~ love the
world cup. At least this one is understandable.

See? Dont ever say I can't aid in increasing your brain capacity. I just did. :}

New Tower at Ground Zero

I thought this was really cool. Today they started construction on the tower that will replace the World Trade Center:

"Two 25-ton steel columns — one bearing signatures of American steelworkers who helped make it — rose at Ground Zero Tuesday, a milestone in prolonged efforts to build the skyscraper that will replace the World Trade Center.

As construction workers, politicians and architects applauded, a massive crane lifted the first, 31-foot-high column, which was painted with an American flag and the words "Freedom Tower," and set it over steel bars on the southern edge of the tower's base...

The 1,776-foot tower, set to open in 2011, is to be the tallest of the five skyscrapers planned to replace the trade center."

I won

Who is TIME Magazine's Person of the Year for 2006. IT'S ME! Okay okay its you too.

Excerpt from the article:

"The 'Great Man' theory of history is usually attributed to the Scottish philosopher Thomas Carlyle, who wrote that "the history of the world is but the biography of great men." He believed that it is the few, the powerful and the famous who shape our collective destiny as a species. That theory took a serious beating this year.

To be sure, there are individuals we could blame for the many painful and disturbing things that happened in 2006. The conflict in Iraq only got bloodier and more entrenched. A vicious skirmish erupted between Israel and Lebanon. A war dragged on in Sudan. A tin-pot dictator in North Korea got the bomb, and the president of Iran wants to go nuclear too. Meanwhile nobody fixed global warming, and Sony didn't make enough PlayStation3s.

But look at 2006 through a different lens and you'll see another story, one that isn't about conflict or great men. It's a story about community and collaboration on a scale never seen before. It's about the cosmic compendium of knowledge Wikipedia and the million-channel people's network YouTube and the online metropolis MySpace. It's about the many wresting power from the few and helping one another for nothing and how that will not only change the world, but also change the way the world changes.

The tool that makes this possible is the World Wide Web. Not the Web that Tim Berners-Lee hacked together (15 years ago, according to Wikipedia) as a way for scientists to share research. It's not even the overhyped dotcom Web of the late 1990s. The new Web is a very different thing. It's a tool for bringing together the small contributions of millions of people and making them matter. Silicon Valley consultants call it Web 2.0, as if it were a new version of some old software. But it's really a revolution."

Hello! AND this blog you're reading. I am part of a revolution. Yea! Read the rest of the article here... its a good one.
