What a terrible day May 17 was in our country’s history.
I am still shocked past belief at the immigration bill that the United States Senate passed yesterday. I am literally speechless. Unlike in 2006 when Republicans controlled the House and we were able to stop the ridiculous Ted Kennedy-socialist-immigration bill, Democrats now control this House. It will pass. The bill basically grants full amnesty to legal immigrants… people who entered this country illegally, breaking OUR laws, not abiding by all the standards that we as legal citizens have to. But hey, we conservatives are meanies who believe that all people that come into this country should abide by the laws of our land… thank goodness for liberals who can choose who should and who shouldn’t actually obey the law. Especially if they can choose millions of illegal people who can then vote the liberals back into political office. So this new bill grants amnesty to millions… millions… of illegal immigrants… and the way they got past it this time is that they didn’t call it “amnesty”. Believe it or not liberals… the people of this country are NOT idiots. You can call it amnesty or shamnesty… we know what it is. Bottom line, they don’t want this to be Texas anymore… it’s going to turn into Texico (as my friend Jared calls it)… sooner or later I hope you all realize that they will change our national language to officially be Spanish. You know because it would be “mean” to say that everyone who enters our country should have to adapt to our land. If you don’t like it… don’t come here!!! Nooooo but let’s let them all in… immigrants, terrorists, anyone… and roll out the red carpet to those that want nothing to do with who we are as Americans but just want the monetary perks our country can provide. We know that terrorists are getting into our country illegally one way or the other… we know that the six Al Qaeda terrorist just found in New Jersey were here illegally… lets not make it hard for them anymore. We want to make it easy for them to bring weapons into our country to attack us. Yea! Let’s do it. Oh yeah…They just did.
Ultimately, heaven forbid we protect OUR people and OUR way of life as citizens of the United States of America. I blame this on those psychotic left wing liberals who are so out of touch with reality - who think that everyone thinks the way they do… and President Bush (who I love and support) who turned his back on the conservative view in this matter (what is he thinking?!)... and to those weak, feeble, disappointing Republican senators and congressman… who have strayed so far from their conservative roots. That’s what November 2006 elections were about! Remember? Have you not learned your lesson yet? There is an entire conservative base out here just WAITING for you to do what we elected you to do. You are going to feel it again in November 2008. Unlike the way liberals view the American people as being ignorant... we are not stupid and we do NOT forget.

To make the day worse… did anyone watch Grey’s Anatomy?..... (***crickets***)…. See? I am speechless again. I wont go into too many details for those who haven't watched it and DVRed it... but it was so horrible. I mean horrible horrible. I could not think of a worse season finale. I am all about respecting cliff hangers but that wasn’t a cliff hanger… that was simply jump-off-a-bridge-depressing. I think they are swimming in dangerous territory right now… I am about to stop watching the show. I mean, I am all about drama and real life and the fact that not everything turns out perfectly, yada yada yada. BUT… if they are going to ruin every single story line and every single subplot of that show is sad and disheartening… break up every relationship and friendship possible to where all we do is see people crying all the time… then - no sir ma’am - they are going to start going downhill. I feel like they have gotten cocky with their ratings being so good and they think they are so great and of course their spin-off show will be a hit too because omigosh we are just so popular so lets break our people up because we will, like, be on the air, like, forever. Watch out Shonda Rimes (creator of the show). This blog and its seven readers… we will boycott you dang it! Just you watch us....

Ruth - the book of Matthew (great name) says to "Love your neighbor as yourself". This is the fundamental moral principle found in all major religions - to treat others as you would like to be treated. Too push away these immigrants who are trying to make a better life for their families and themselves goes against this ethic of reciprocity.
You seem so concerned with "OUR" laws, but whose laws are they? The United States of America's? These laws are decided my sinful, mortal men. I'd rather follow the rules stated in The Bible, which is the word of God.
Thank you for your point Matthew. =] That said God also made it VERY clear that you are to obey the laws of the land and submit to the authority with which He set up for that land. The law of our land is very clear on how to enter this country legally. This bill is saying that it doesn’t matter that these people broke the law… as long as they are looking out for themselves and want to take advantage of our tax dollars to live off our welfare… then so be it. There is one thing to reach out and aid helpless people… it’s another thing to encourage delinquency and ignore justice. God is a loving AND a just God.
“Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. If God made it VERY clear that you are to obey the laws of the land and submit to the authority with which He set up for that land, then does that mean all citizens of a country should follow the laws of their "leader", no matter who the individual may be? If so, then does that mean the laws established by Hitler, Mussolini, and Hussein should have been blindly followed? I would hope your answer is an astounding No.
I also find it ironic that these same governing authorities that everyone must submit themselves to are the same individuals who persecuted Jesus. Interesting.
And what do tax dollars matter in the grand scheme of eternity? Those are just "worldly" possessions.
I seriously doubt that Jesus would have turned away immigrants who needed help. He was a man of the people. The last thing he would have been concerned with was whether or not Spanish would be the prominent language in this State. And remember, they were speaking Spanish (and French) here way before us white breads even got to this land.
